We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced R&D Manager to manage R&D departmental activities. This person would have the opportunity for consideration for R&D Director within one to two years.
Requirements
- PhD in Organic or Polymer Chemistry.
- A minimum of 10 years work experience, with at least 5 years of "hands-on" experience managing both research projects and staff in a non-academic setting.
- Solid knowledge of dental adhesives, composites or related areas such as resin coatings.
- Background and experience within the dental (or medical device) industry preferred.
- Well-established accomplishments in product development and research.
- Strong understanding of Design Control and Project Management concepts.
- Leadership/executive/management skills including the ability to motivate, prioritize, and communicate with flexibility, sound business judgment and “big picture” focus.
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance to R&D scientists and promote proper Design Control and Project Management protocols.
- Ensure strong performance of R&D operations through supervision and review.
- Provide departmental and project progress reports per management reporting requirements.
- Participate in research studies and seek to author scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Responsibilities as Director would also include the following:
- Develop departmental operating plans and manage R&D resources accordingly.
- Work with universities and research groups to explore potential product licensing opportunities, joint research studies and other partnership projects.
- Attend key research meetings and events as the Company’s research leader and ambassador.
- Enforce and improve the Company’s Intellectual Property interests, working with outside counsel.
- Provide direction and insight for the Company’s innovation plans as co-chair of the New Product Development Committee, responsible for planning and approving product and technology development projects.
- As member of the Company’s management team, establish, execute and monitor performance against budgets and Strategic Plan through inter-departmental cooperation.
