Dr. David Hornrbook presents "Optimizing Your Creativity With The New Ceramic Systems" at the BISCO Institute.

Today’s ceramic systems are no longer limited by strength, marginal integrity, or necessary destruction of tooth structure. The creative, artistic and astute clinician now has the opportunity to master restorative dentistry like at no other time in the history of our profession. Join Dr. Hornbrook as he discusses the new ceramic systems available and why the elimination of metal in our practices is a more viable option than ever before, and one that should be adamantly pursued by every practicing clinician. The most expensive thing you provide from your lab for your patients is a metal base restoration. The new metal-free systems are more durable, more aesthetic, more bondable, more conservative and have better wear compatibility than metal restorations. Dentistry has always been in search of a replacement for metal-supported dentistry and the time is now to start exploring the options. This presentation will cover what’s available, when to use what, how to optimize predictability, effective lab communication, reducing remakes, and a thorough understanding of the cementation systems that will optimize results.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify what’s available
  2. To learn when aesthetics trump strength and vice-versa
  3. Learn creative use of implant and implant abutments and long term provisionals to provide predictability
  4. Discuss preparation design to maximize long term success
  5. To learn creative uses of the new ceramic systems
  6. Review current dentinal adhesive systems and how ease-of-use has finally caught up with performance
  7. Discuss intra-oral impression scanners and CAD/CAM and their role in making quality dental care more affordable and a viable option for the average practice
  8. Identify polishing systems that rival ceramic glasses
  9. To learn to apply isolation techniques to ensure the lab can provide the restoration your patient deserves
