AQUA-PREP™ F, an aqueous solution of fluoride and hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), is a rewetting agent to be used prior to the application of total etch adhesive systems such as ALL-BOND 2®*, ALL-BOND 3®* or ONE-STEP®*/ONE-STEP PLUS. AQUA-PREP F resolves the often asked question, “How wet is wet?” Application of AQUA-PREP F will provide an ideal amount of moisture necessary for bonding agents. In addition, a university study has demonstrated that AQUA-PREP F provides a zone of caries inhibition in surrounding tooth structure.1
AQUA-PREP F is applied to the cavity preparation after acid etching and dried lightly to insure the proper level of moisture remains on the preparation. AQUA-PREP F can help alleviate post-operative sensitivity when the condition is due to excessive drying or improper wetting of the dentin. |
1. Etch dentin and enamel for 15 seconds with 32% phosphoric acid such as UNI-ETCH® with BAC**. Rinse thoroughly for approximately 5 seconds.
2. Air dry for 2-4 seconds. A dry, but not desiccated, surface is ideal before applying AQUA-PREP F. Dentin should appear dull, and etched enamel should appear frosted.
3. Dispense 2 drops of AQUA-PREP F into a mixing well. With a brush, apply to the dentin and enamel surfaces. Do not apply with a cotton pellet.
4.Allow AQUA-PREP F to soak for 20 seconds.
5. Gently air dry AQUA-PREP F to remove excess. Avoid pooling, especially at the internal line angles of the preparation. The resulting surface should have a shiny appearance.
6. Apply adhesive resin system such as ALL-BOND 2, ALL-BOND 3 or ONE-STEP/ONE-STEP PLUS per manufacturer’s instructions.
