BASIC TECHNIQUE:
- Etch the tooth
(15 sec.) and rinse,
- Gently air dry
2-3 seconds,
- Apply BisBlock
(allow to dwell for 30 sec.) and rinse (re-etching
enamel, if enamel margin is present),
- Apply ONE-STEP
PLUS or ALL-BOND 2 (per instructions) and light
cure, and
- Continue with
case specific procedures.
DETAILED TECHNIQUE
PER INDICATION:
A. Desensitization
of Exposed Root Surfaces*
ETCH:
1. Etch exposed root surface with 32% phosphoric acid,
such as UNI-ETCH®*, for 15 seconds. Rinse
thoroughly with water and gently air dry 2-3 seconds
so that there is no visible water on the surface of
the tooth.
DESENSITIZE:
2. Apply BisBlock and allow to dwell for 30 seconds.
Rinse thoroughly with water, leaving the surface slightly,
but visibly, moist for wet bonding.
APPLY ADHESIVE:
3. Apply an adhesive, such as ONE-STEP or ONE-STEP PLUS.
(See section APPLYING ADHESIVE.)
* NOTEWORTHY: For additional patient comfort,
warm the etchant, BisBlock, rinsing water and
adhesive to body temperature, prior to application.
B. Desensitization
Prior to Placing Direct Restorations
ETCH:
1. Etch preparation with 32% phosphoric acid, such as
UNI-ETCH, for 15 seconds. Rinse thoroughly with water
and gently air dry 2-3 seconds so that there is no visible
water on the surface of the tooth.
DESENSITIZE:
2. Apply BisBlock and allow to dwell for 30 seconds.
Rinse thoroughly. If enamel margin is present, re-etch
with UNI-ETCH for at least 15 seconds. Rinse thoroughly
leaving the surface slightly, but visibly, moist for
wet bonding.
APPLY ADHESIVE:
3. Apply an adhesive, such as ONE-STEP, ONE-STEP PLUS
or ALL-BOND 2. (See section APPLYING ADHESIVE.)
4. Continue with restorative procedure.
C. Desensitization
Prior to Temporization for Indirect Restoration
ETCH:
1. Etch preparation with 32% phosphoric acid, such as
UNI-ETCH, for 15 seconds. Rinse thoroughly with water
and gently air dry 2-3 seconds so that there is no visible
water on the surface of the tooth.
DESENSITIZE:
2. Apply BisBlock and allow to dwell for 30 seconds.
Rinse thoroughly. If enamel margin is present, re-etch
with UNI-ETCH for at least 15 seconds. Rinse thoroughly
leaving the surface slightly, but visibly, moist for
wet bonding.
APPLY ADHESIVE:
3. Apply an adhesive, such as ONE-STEP, ONE-STEP PLUS
or ALL-BOND 2. (See section APPLYING ADHESIVE.)
4. Remove the oxygen-inhibited layer with an alcohol-moistened
cotton pellet and make an impression.
5. Continue with temporization procedure.
CAUTION: To prevent the temporary restoration
from bonding to the tooth, coat the preparation with
a lubricant (glycerine or petroleum jelly), except for
1-2mm at the margins for adhesion to the temporary cement.
| CAUTION:
Do not use eugenol-based products in the temporization
procedure since they may interfere with polymerization
of resin-based cements and composites. |
At Cementation
Appointment:
1. Remove temporary.
2. Clean preparation with a slurry of pumice and water.
Rinse and dry.
3. Utilizing 32% phosphoric acid, such as UNI-ETCH,
as a cleanser, apply to preparation for 15 seconds.
Rinse thoroughly and dry.
4. Apply an adhesive, such as ONE-STEP, ONE-STEP PLUS
or ALL-BOND 2. (See section APPLYING ADHESIVE.)
5. Continue with permanent cementation procedures.
APPLYING ADHESIVE:
A. Applying
ONE-STEP or ONE-STEP PLUS
1. With the surface visibly moist, apply a minimum of
two generous coats of ONE-STEP (OS) or ONE-STEP PLUS
(OS+). (To activate UNIT-DOSE VIAL, see instructions
on pouch.)
2. Using a gentle stream of air, thoroughly evaporate
the solvent from the OS or OS+.
NOTE: The surface should be shiny. If not, apply
more OS or OS+ and evaporate solvent.
3. Light-cure for a minimum of 10 seconds.
B. Applying
ALL-BOND 2
1. With the surface visibly moist, mix ALL-BOND 2 Primers
A & B and apply a minimum of five generous coats.
2. Using a gentle stream of air, thoroughly evaporate
the solvent from the A & B.
NOTE: The surface should be shiny. If not, apply
more A & B and evaporate solvent.
3. Apply one coat of D/E Resin and air thin.
4. Light-cure for 20 seconds.
STORAGE:
Do not refrigerate. Store at room temperature (22°C/72°F).
See individual component labels for specific expiration
dates.
