BIS-CORE™
Instructions |
 |
|
|
|
BIS-CORE
is a dual-cured, highly filled, radiopaque core build-up
composite. The high viscosity BASE PASTE is a universal
dentin shade and may be used alone as a light-cured CORE
build-up material. When the BASE PASTE is mixed with the
CATALYST PASTE, the resultant mixture is a dual-cured,
low viscosity composite ideal for intracoronal syringe
placement. The dual-cured CATALYST PASTE is available
in two shades, Natural and Opaque. By mixing the BASE
PASTE with the dual-cured LIQUID CATALYST (available separately),
a very low viscosity is achieved which is ideal for post
cementation. BIS-CORE has superior physical properties
with a compressive strength greater than 40,000 psi resulting
in a strong, easy-to-use core build-up material. BIS-CORE
is intended for use with a 4th or 5th generation adhesive
system such as ALL-BOND® 2* or ONE-STEP®* .

| Working
and setting time will be accelerated in the warm intraoral
environment using both PASTE CATALYST and LIQUID CATALYST.
Also, the cement will set quickly once it comes in contact
with ALL-BOND 2 primers on the tooth. |
| DIRECTIONS
FOR USE |
CORE
BUILD-UP
1. If a post is indicated, cement post into post preparation
according to manufacturer's instructions.
2. Etch remaining coronal tooth structure with an etchant
such as UNI-ETCH®* and apply an adhesive such
as ALL-BOND 2 or ONE-STEP
, according to the manufacturer's instructions. |
| 3. For

a.) The
ratio of base paste to catalyst paste may be varied
to alter the setting time.

b.) Dispense desired
amount of BIS-CORE BASE and CATALYST PASTES
onto a light-protected mixing pad by turning syringe
handle clockwise. To prevent excess material escaping
from syringe, turn handle counterclockwise immediately
after the desired amount is dispensed. Mix to a uniform
paste (10-15 seconds).
c.) Place directly into preparation or fill a CENTRIX
AccuDose®* syringe tip with the composite
and inject into the preparation and around the post,
if present. Continue to build until cavity preparation
is filled to the desired level.
d.) Light cure for 20 seconds per surface or allow
the material to self-cure, and continue with preparation.

4. For Light-Cured
Method:
|
a) Dispense desired
amount of BIS-CORE base paste onto a light-protected
mixing pad by turning syringe handle clockwise. To
prevent excess material escaping from syringe, turn
handle counterclockwise immediately after the desired
amount is dispensed.
b) Place directly into preparation or fill a CENTRIX
AccuDose syringe tip with the composite and inject
into the preparation and around the post, if present.
Continue to build until cavity preparation is filled
to the desired level.
c) Light cure for 20 seconds per surface and continue
with preparation.

FIBER/METAL POST
CEMENTATION
For post cementation, BIS-CORE LIQUID CATALYST
must be used instead of the PASTE CATALYST in order
to lower the viscosity of the cement.
Post Space Preparation:
1. Remove the temporary restoration and clean preparation.
If eugenol containing temporary cements were used, use
pumice to thoroughly remove all traces of cement. Eugenol
may affect curing of some composite materials.
2. FIBER POST: Prepare the root canal with the Pre-Shaping
and Finishing drills, according to manufacturer's instructions.
METAL POST: Sandblast the surface of the post.
3. Clean the canal with a water spray.
4. Remove excess water from the canal with a paper point.
5. Apply UNI-ETCH (32% phosphoric acid) for 15 seconds
and rinse.
6. Blot the canal dry with a large paper point, leaving
the dentin visibly moist.
7. Apply 2 coats of ALL-BOND 2 Primers A and B or ONE-STEP.
8. Blot the canal dry with a paper point; repeat with
a new paper point until the paper point returns dry
from the canal. This step is important for removal of
any puddled primers so that there is no interference
in complete seating of the post.
9. Light-Cure ONE-STEP for 10 seconds with a small light
tip. Light access is crucial.
The user must use their own discretion as to whether
light will reach into the canal space. Although ONE-STEP
is very light sensitive, Bisco cannot guarantee success
if the appropriate amount of light has not reached the
adhesive.
Post Cementation:
1. Coat the post with ALL-BOND 2 Primers A and B or
with ONE-STEP and lightly air dry.
2. Mix one drop of BIS-CORE LIQUID CATALYST with
1/4 inch of BIS-CORE BASE PASTE into a uniform
paste (10-15 seconds).
3. Fill a CENTRIX AccuDose NeedleTubes™* syringe needle
tip with the cement and inject the cement into the canal.
Start at the apical end of the canal and work towards
the pulp chamber. (As an alternative, a lentulo spiral
or paste filler may be used to carry the cement into
the canal.)
4. Seat the post into the canal gently and maintain
firm pressure once the post is seated.
5. As soon as the cement has set, proceed with the core
build-up.
ALTERNATIVE TECHNIQUE: To prevent premature set of the
cement, follow directions above except:
Post Space Preparation STEP 7: Apply 2 coats of Primer
B only. Lightly air dry.
Post Cementation STEP 1: Coat the post with Primer B
only. Lightly air dry.
