BISCO semi-gel ETCHANTS are phosphoric acid (H3PO4),
polymer-thickened formulations intended for use on enamel
and dentin. These ETCHANTS will effectively remove the
smear layer, etch and demineralize enamel and dentin,
producing the necessary microretentive surface for successful
bonding. Our specially formulated (proprietary) etchant
gel leaves no silica residue.
ETCH-37 is 37% H3PO4 and most
effective at quickly etching enamel and dentin. UNI-ETCH
is 32% H3PO4 and effective at etching
enamel and dentin. ALL-ETCH is 10% H3PO4
and the least aggressive of the three. It will etch enamel
and dentin but must be agitated on the enamel to be completely
effective. These ETCHANTS can be used exclusively or in
combination.
The polymer thickener creates thixotropic properties,
enhancing handling characteristics. The etchant rinses
away cleanly and quickly, leaving no residue. Published
research proves that BISCO ETCHANTS produce higher bond
strengths to (wet or dry) dentin1 and enamel.
BISCO ETCHANTS are also available with benzalkonium chloride
(BAC), an antimicrobial agent. Research confirms the development
of residual bacterial inhibition zones of up to 7mm, when
challenged with Streptococcus Mutans and Actinomyces Viscosus2.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR EZ-DOSE™* TIPS
1. The EZ-DOSE TIP is serrated and can be opened
by slightly twisting and gently pulling the tip. Be
sure to pull BEYOND the serrated section.
2. The etchant can now be dispensed by squeezing the
bulb portion, directing the tip to the desired placement
location (onto tooth or into well), following the
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE below.
3. The EZ-DOSE TIP is for single use only. Do not
refill.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1. Isolate tooth and prepare the cavity in a conservative
manner. Clean the entire surface with a slurry of pumice
and water.
2. Apply etchant using an EZ-DOSE TIP, disposable syringe
tip, or disposable brush tip. ALL-ETCH (10%) must be
agitated on enamel to be completely effective. Allow
etchant to remain in place for 15 seconds. Etching time
should be monitored with a stopwatch. Begin timing at
the end of application.
Option: Place etchant on enamel
first, then proceed to cover dentin, for a slightly
longer enamel etching time.
3. Rinse thoroughly (at least 5 seconds) to completely
remove all traces of etchant.
4. For best results, do not allow enamel or dentin to
dry for an excessive period of time. Immediately re-wet
enamel and dentin with an wetting agent such as AQUA-PREP™*
F prior to application of hydrophilic adhesive resin
systems such as ALL-BOND 2®*, ALL-BOND 3™ or ONE-STEP®*/ONE-STEP PLUS.
STORAGE:
Store at room temperature (22°C/72°F). Refer to individual
component labels for specific expiration dates.
PRECAUTIONS: Phosphoric acid is a severe eye irritant
and skin irritant. If accidentally splashed into the
eye, flush with copious amounts of water and seek medical
attention immediately. Wash spills on the skin immediately
with soap and water. Injury may result if etchant is
allowed to remain on the skin for long periods.
