ILLUSION™
Universal Cementation System
Dual-Cured

GENERAL INFORMATION

ILLUSION is a universal, dual-cured, resin cement, based on an opacity/translucency (value) system. ILLUSION is intended to be used in aesthetic situations for cementation of porcelain and composite inlays, onlays, crowns, veneers and fixed partial dentures. It can also be used for cementation of metallic inlays, onlays and crowns. This system consists of three Light-Cured Base Pastes in shades Clear, Milky and Opaque with three color-matched Water-Soluble Try-In Pastes. A Dual-Cured Clear Catalyst Paste is included for restorations requiring a dual-cured cement. Also included is one Light-Cured Color Modifier to allow for modification in color (chroma) of cement paste, and a color-matched Water Soluble Color Modifier Try-In Paste. A Light-Cured Pink Block-Out Paste and a Water-Soluble Pink Block-Out Try-In Paste are also available for neutralizing underlying tooth darkness. This unique system also allows the operator to modify the viscosity of the cement paste by adding Light-Cured Viscosity Modifier until the desired consistency is achieved.

For your convenience, syringes are color-coded: BLACK syringes contain light-cured components, BLUE syringes contain water-soluble (non-polymerizing) try-in components.

SYSTEM COMPONENTS
  1. Light-Cured Base Pastes: Use alone (without catalyst) for cementation of anterior all- ceramic veneers and crowns where ceramic thickness is less than 3 mm. Available in:
    a) Clear:
Use to lower the value, in cases where the value of the restoration is slightly too bright.
    b) Milky:
    Use in most situations.
    c) Opaque:
Use to raise the value, where maximum brightness is required.
  2. Dual-Cured Clear Catalyst Paste: Mix with an equal amount of Base Paste when a dual-cured composite cement is required. This is recommended for cementation of anterior all-ceramic veneers and crowns where ceramic thickness is greater than 3 mm. This is also recommended for cementation of composite and ceramic inlays, onlays, crowns and fixed partial dentures, unetchable ceramic restorations, as well as gold/metal based inlays, onlays and crowns.
  3. Light-Cured Viscosity Modifier: Mix into Base Paste one drop at a time to create a more flowable cement. Do not mix with Try-In Pastes.
  4. Light-Cured Color Modifier: Mix this Color Modifier Paste into Base Paste in small increments to customize shade of cement. Do not mix with Try-In Pastes.
  5. Light-Cured Pink Block-Out Paste: Mix this Pink Block-Out Paste into Base Paste in small increments to block-out dark teeth. Do not mix with Try-In Pastes.
  6. Water-Soluble Try-in Pastes: Available in shades Clear, Milky and Opaque which match light-cured Base Paste shades. Use when trying in anterior all-ceramic veneers and crowns to determine value of Base Paste prior to final cementation. This is a non-polymerizing, water-soluble paste. Use only with water-soluble try-in pastes and do not mix with light-cured materials. Rinse thoroughly from tooth and inside of restoration prior to beginning final cementation procedures.
  7. Water-Soluble Color Modifier Try-in Paste: Shade matches corresponding Light-Cured Color Modifier. Use when trying in anterior all-ceramic veneers and crowns to determine custom shading needed with Base Paste prior to final cementation. This is a non-polymerizing, water-soluble paste. Use only with water-soluble try-in pastes and do not mix with light-cured materials. Rinse thoroughly from tooth and inside of restoration prior to beginning final cementation procedures.
  8. Water-Soluble Pink Block-Out Try-In Paste: Pink Shade matches corresponding Light-Cured Pink Block-Out Paste. Use when trying in anterior all-ceramic veneers and crowns to determine neutralization needed with Base Paste prior to final cementation. This is a non-polymerizing, water-soluble paste. Use only with water-soluble try-in pastes and do not mix with light-cured materials. Rinse thoroughly from tooth and inside of restoration prior to beginning final cementation procedures.
  9. Porcelain Primer: Use on the inside surface of all-ceramic restorations after try-in, prior to final cementation.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
RESTORATION TRY-IN
Prior to cementation of porcelain or composite restorations, Water-Soluble Try-In Pastes can be used to evaluate if the value (opacity/translucency) or chroma (color saturation) of the restoration needs to be altered upon final cementation.
  1. Try-in the restoration lined with the Water-Soluble Milky Try-In Paste (typically used in the anterior region).
  2. Seat the restoration and evaluate.
    a.
If the value (opacity) needs to be changed, replace the Milky Shade with:
    • the Clear Shade to slightly lower the value of the restoration.
    • the Opaque Shade to raise the value of the restoration.
    b. If the overall color needs to be altered (warmed eg. changed A2 to A3):
    • add small increments of the Color Modifier Try-In Paste until the desired color is achieved.
    c. If the underlying tooth structure is dark and needs to be blocked-out (neutralized):
    • add small increments of the Pink Block-Out Try-In Paste until the darkness of the underlying tooth is blocked-out.
The same combination of pastes should be used with the light-cured components when performing the final cementation.

TOOTH PREPARATION USING ONE-STEP®*/ONE-STEP PLUS
  1. Anesthetize teeth as necessary.
  2. Remove provisional, clean the preparation (sandblast or microetch), rinse with water and lightly dry.
  3. Try-in the restoration, make necessary adjustments and polish.
  4. Etch enamel and dentin using an etchant such as UNI-ETCH®* for 15 seconds (Do not over-etch). Rinse thoroughly. Remove excess water with a brief burst of air. DO NOT DESICCATE! ONE-STEP/ONE-STEP PLUS (OS/OS+) works best with moist dentin/enamel.
  5. Apply two consecutive coats of OS/OS+ to the dentin and enamel without waiting between coats. Air-dry thoroughly for a minimum of 10 seconds to remove and evaporate excess solvent. Surfaces will appear glossy when coverage is sufficient. AVOID POOLING AT INTERNAL LINE ANGLES.
  6. Light-cure for 10 seconds per surface.
Refer to manufacturer's instructions. Not all one-bottle adhesives bond to dual-cured or self-cured composites. Unlike others, ONE-STEP and ONE-STEP PLUS bond to dual-cured and self-cured composites.
TOOTH PREPARATION USING ALL-BOND®2*
  1. Anesthetize teeth as necessary.
  2. Remove provisional, clean the preparation (sandblast or microetch), rinse with water and lightly dry.
  3. Try-in the restoration, make necessary adjustments and polish.
  4. Etch enamel and dentin using an etchant such as UNI-ETCH for 15 seconds (Do not over-etch). Rinse thoroughly. Remove excess water with a brief burst of air. DO NOT DESICCATE! ALL-BOND 2 works best with moist dentin/enamel.
  5. Mix PRIMERS A and B. Apply five consecutive coats to the enamel and dentin. DO NOT DRY BETWEEN COATS! Air dry all surfaces for a minimum of 5-6 seconds with an air syringe to remove and evaporate excess solvent. Properly primed surface will appear glossy when coverage is sufficient. Light cure for 20 seconds.
  6. Apply a layer of PRE-BOND™* RESIN immediately prior to cementation. Air thin. DO NOT LIGHT- CURE.
For Veneer Cementation: Do not use PRE-BOND RESIN . Instead, apply a thin layer of D/E RESIN over enamel/dentin. Air thin. DO NOT LIGHT-CURE.
