1. Prophylaxis - Thoroughly clean the teeth to
be bonded with pumice in a rubber cup or bristle
brush. Carefully avoid irritating the gingival
tissue since slight bleeding may cause contamination
and could affect bonding quality.
CAUTION: Do not use prophy paste which
may contain oils, since it may leave a film that
will reduce etching quality and decrease bonding
strength.
2. Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. Isolate
the teeth and dry with the air syringe.
3. Apply ETCH-37* directly on
the enamel surface, limited to the area to be
bonded for 30 seconds (up to 60 seconds for deciduous
teeth). You can use a foam pellet to carefully
dab the acid onto each tooth to achieve proper
acid penetration. Please do not rub the syringe
tip over the enamel to avoid fracture of the enamel
rods. Also do not etch for a period over 90 seconds,
which may cause the formation of insoluble calcium
phosphate salt crystals which may decrease bonding
strength.
4. Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water for about
5 seconds on each tooth. Dry the teeth with oil-free
air. The etched areas should appear dull and frosty
white. If not, re-etch areas as needed.
5. Hold bottle at a 45° angle and dispense
1-2 drops of ONE-STEP into a mixing well. Using
a brush, apply a thin coat of ONE-STEP to the
etched enamel.
6. Using a gentle stream, gently but thoroughly
air dry to evaporate solvent.
7. Apply ORTHO BRACKET PASTE LC to the
back of the bracket. Place the bracket on the
sealed tooth, gently pressing it to its final
position. Remove the excess material. Be careful
to not displace all the paste from underneath
the bracket. With the light probe as close as
possible to the bracket, light cure the bracket
for 30 seconds, following the directions below:
- Metal brackets - light cure for 20 seconds
from the Incisal and 10 seconds from the gingival
or mesial surfaces.
- Ceramic or Plastic brackets - light cure for
30 seconds through the archwire slot from the
facial surface.
Once the paste has been properly cured, an active
archwire can be placed immediately.
BRACKET REMOVAL:
ORTHO BRACKET PASTE LC can be easily removed
with pin and ligature cutting pliers or other
de-bonding devices. Tooth surfaces may be further
cleaned with scaling instruments and polished
with rotary instruments.
NOTE: The intensity of curing lights may
vary. For a true reading, check light intensity
before and after curing multiple brackets. Loss
of light intensity can only be detected with a
radiometer. Also check the appropriate curing
time indicated by your curing light manufacturer's
instructions for adequate bonding.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature (22°C/72°F).
Refer to individual component labels for specific
expiration dates.
PRECAUTIONS: Unpolymerized resins may
cause skin sensitization in susceptible persons.
In case of contact with the skin, wash thoroughly
with soap and water.
