1. Thoroughly clean the teeth to be bonded with
pumice in a rubber cup or bristle brush. Take
care to avoid irritating the gingival tissue since
slight bleeding may cause contamination that could
affect the quality of the bond.
2. Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. Isolate
the teeth and dry with the air syringe.
3. Dispense Liquid Etchant into a mixing well.
Dab etchant for 20-30 seconds on the surfaces
to be bonded.
4. Rinse etched teeth thoroughly to remove all
traces of acid. Re-isolate and dry teeth to be
bonded. The etched areas should appear chalky-white.
If not, reapply etchant for an additional 30 seconds.
Rinse and dry again.
5. Brush a thin coat of ORTHO-ONE No Mix
Primer on to each etched and dried tooth surface
to be bonded. The thin primer coat should be confined
to the etched area. To avoid evaporation, do not
dispense primer prematurely.
NOTE: When using no-mix bonding systems,
bracket bases should closely conform to the tooth
surface to be bonded. Adjust bracket base as needed.
6. Brush a thin coat of ORTHO-ONE No Mix
Primer on the underside of the bracket base. Do
not contaminate primed surface of bracket base.
Primed surfaces should not be exposed to air for
more than 10 minutes. If primed bracket base should
become contaminated with saliva, etc., clean primer
from bracket base with alcohol or acetone, rinse
and dry bracket thoroughly. Then apply primer
again.
7. Apply a thin layer of ORTHO-ONE No Mix
Paste to the underside of the bracket base and
immediately place bracket on tooth with a slight
rotating motion. Immediately position the bracket
to desired angulation and press firmly to insure
paste is in a thin uniform layer. All adjustments
to brackets must be made within 20 seconds (prior
to gelation of paste). Remove excess adhesive
from the periphery of the bracket base after the
brackets are in place. Keep teeth isolated for
approximately 3 minutes. Archwires may be placed
7 minutes after bracket is placed on the tooth.
8. To re-bond a lost bracket, all adhesive must
be removed from the tooth, then follow steps 1-7.
ORTHO-ONE will bond to plastic brackets
without additional conditioners. Follow steps
1-7, however, allow the ORTHO-ONE No Mix
Primer to remain on the plastic bracket for 1
minute before applying ORTHO-ONE No Mix
Paste.
Brackets and adhesive removal may easily be accomplished
with pin and ligature cutting pliers or other
de-bonding devices. Tooth surfaces may be further
cleaned with scaling instruments and polished
with rotary instruments.
