POST CEMENT HI-X™*
High-Radiopacity Post Cement

GENERAL INFORMATION

POST CEMENT HI-X is a self-cured high-radiopacity post cement. With its relatively high radiopacity in thin layers, it is intended for cementation of radiolucent fiber posts such as ÆSTHETI-PLUS™* POSTS. It is also suitable for cementation of radiopaque fiber posts such as D.T. LIGHT-POSTS®* or metal posts fabricated with precious, semi-precious or non-precious metals and may aid in masking the dark metallic color. POST CEMENT HI-X is intended for use with 4th or 5th generation adhesives such as ALL-BOND 2®*, ALL-BOND 3®* or ONE-STEP®*/ONE-STEP PLUS.

Unlike ONE-STEP/ONE-STEP PLUS, not all one-bottle total etch systems bond to self-cured or dual-cured materials. Check with manufacturer's instructions.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

At room temperature (20°C/68°F - 25°C/77°F):
Working Time:
Setting Time:
Minimum 2 min. 15 sec. (including mixing)
Maximum 5 min. 30 sec.

Working and setting times will be accelerated in the warm intraoral environment.  Also, the cement will set quickly once it comes in contact with the ALL-BOND 2 primers on the tooth.

POST CEMENT HI-X left on the mixing pad may appear not to set. This is due to oxygen inhibition of the polymerization process. Rest assured the cement will polymerize (set) in a normal fashion. The user can confirm this by placing a mylar strip over the excess cement on the pad; the cement will set within the specified setting time.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
FIBER/METAL POST CEMENTATION

Post Space Preparation:

1.    Remove provisional restoration and clean the preparation. Eugenol may affect curing of some composite materials. If eugenol-containing temporary cement was used, clean the preparation with pumice to remove all traces of the cement.

2.   Prepare the root canal with the corresponding drills, according to manufacturer’s instructions.

3.   Debride the canal with a water spray.

4.   Remove excess water from the canal with a paper point.

5.   Etch using an etchant, such as UNI-ETCH®* w/BAC or ETCH-37™* w/BAC, according to manufacturer's instructions, and rinse with water. Blot the canal dry with a large paper point, leaving the dentin visibly moist.

6.   Apply an adhesive, such as ALL-BOND 2, ALL-BOND 3 or ONE-STEP/ONE-STEP PLUS, according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

7.   Blot the canal dry with a paper point; repeat with a new paper point until the paper point returns dry from the canal. This step is important for removal of any pooled adhesive so that there is no interference in complete seating of the post.

8.   Light cure adhesive as necessary, according to manufacturer’s instructions.

Post Cementation:

NOTE: If placing a metal post, sandblast the surface of the post prior to applying adhesive.

1.   Coat the post with an adhesive according to manufacturer’s instructions.

2.   Mix equal amounts of POST CEMENT HI-X base and catalyst into a uniform paste (10-15 seconds).

3.   Fill a UNIT-DOSE NEEDLE TIP* with POST CEMENT HI-X and inject it in the canal.  Start at the apical end of the canal and withdraw the tip towards the pulp chamber. (As an alternative, a lentulo spiral or paste filler may be used to carry the cement into the canal.)

4.   Seat the post into the canal gently and maintain firm pressure once the post is seated.

5.   Remove excess cement as soon as the post is seated. Failure to remove the cement early may result in the cement adhering to areas from which it should be removed.

6.   As soon as the cement has set, proceed with the core build-up.

STORAGE: Store at room temperature (20°C/68°F - 25°C/77°F). See individual component labels for specific expiration dates.

PRECAUTIONS: Unpolymerized resins may cause skin sensitization in susceptible persons.  Avoid contact with the skin. In case of contact, wash the skin thoroughly with soap and water.
