GENERAL
INFORMATION
PYRAMID is a light-cured, hybrid composite indicated
for the restoration of posterior primary and permanent teeth
in stress bearing as well as non-stress bearing areas. The
PYRAMID system incorporates two distinctly different radiopaque
materials, DENTIN and ENAMEL. PYRAMID DENTIN
is a highly filled (80% by weight), packable material that
provides ease in establishing occlusal contours, proximal
surfaces and interproximal contacts. It can be used alone
or as the base increment up to the DEJ. PYRAMID ENAMEL
is a sculptable, highly polishable, wear-resistant material
that will produce a life-like restoration when used as the
veneer on top of PYRAMID DENTIN. The PYRAMID
system aids in creating highly aesthetic stratified restorations
or shallow restorations with a single stratum. It is intended
for use with 4th or 5th generation adhesives such as ALL-BOND®
2* or ONE-STEP®*.
The principal uses of PYRAMID are:
1. Class I restorations.
2. Class II restorations.
3. Core build-ups.
PYRAMID is available in DENTIN and ENAMEL
shades that correspond with the VITA® ?
shade guide. PYRAMID DENTIN may appear to be slightly
dry upon dispensing from the syringe, but once manipulation
begins, the composite becomes an ideal consistency.
In
order to polymerize, PYRAMID ENAMEL NEUTRAL and TRANSLUCENT
require a light source with a full spectrum (400-500 nanometer)
wavelength, produced by conventional halogen curing lights.
For other curing modalities (PAC or laser), check with manufacturer
to determine output wavelength.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1. Select DENTIN and ENAMEL shades prior to tooth desiccation.
2. Isolate tooth and prepare the cavity in a conservative
manner. Clean the entire surface with a slurry of pumice and
a disinfectant such as CAVITY CLEANSERTM* or water.
3. Etch using an etchant, such as ETCH-37TM* or
UNI-ETCH®*, according to manufacturer's instructions.
4. Apply an adhesive, such as ALL-BOND 2 or ONE-STEP, according
to the manufacturer's instructions.
5. For preparations with highly irregular internal surfaces,
place a flowable composite, such as AELITEFLOTM*
LV, as the initial increment to maximize adaptation of PYRAMID
DENTIN.
6. Dispense desired amount of previously selected shade of
PYRAMID composite onto a light-protected mixing pad by turning
the syringe handle clockwise. To prevent excess material escaping
from the syringe, turn the handle counterclockwise immediately
after the desired amount is dispensed.
7. Place 1-2 mm increments of composite into cavity preparation.
Light-cure each increment for 20 seconds. Continue to build
the composite incrementally until cavity preparation is filled
to the cavosurface margin. The final increment should be light-cured
for 30 seconds.
8. Check the occlusion and begin finishing procedures. After
finishing and polishing have been completed, apply FORTIFYTM*
or FORTIFY PLUS surface sealant (sold separately) according
to manufacturer's instructions, to improve marginal integrity
and reduce wear and staining.
* UNI-ETCH is a registered trademark of BISCO, INC. CAVITY
CLEANSER, ETCH-37, AELITEFLO, and FORTIFY are trademarks of

Storage: Store at room temperature (22°C/72°F). Refer
to individual component labels for specific expiration dates.
Precautions: Unpolymerized resins may cause skin sensitization
in susceptible persons. In case of contact with the skin,
wash thoroughly with soap and water.
