TESCERA*
Indirect Composite System

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

GENERAL INFORMATION

TESCERA is a state-of-the-art system for fabricating and processing indirect composite restorations. BISCO's specially formulated and optimized TESCERA composite materials allow for the creation of life-like translucent restorations. When processed in the TESCERA ATL™* processing unit, unsurpassed strength properties are achieved. TESCERA restorations are intended for use with adhesives such as ALL-BOND 2®*, ONE-STEP®*, ONE-STEP PLUS, ALL-BOND 3™* or ALL-BOND SE™* and composite cements such as DUO-LINK™*, BisCem®*, CHOICE™* 2 and C&B™* CEMENT for cementation.

SYSTEM COMPONENTS

A. PROCESSING UNIT:

TESCERA ATL: An Aqua Thermal Light Polymerization unit for processing indirect composites in an oxygen-free environment for optimal surface properties. The polymerization process utilizes water in addition to pressure, light and heat.

B. COMPOSITE MATERIALS:

• OPACEOUS DENTIN Composites: Opaque reinforced microhybrid composites (81% filler by weight) used to emulate the most dense and most opaque area of the tooth. Available in VITA® shades: A1, A2, A3, A3.5, A4, B1, B2, B3, B4, C1, C2, C3, C4, D2, D3 and D4.

BODY Composites: Translucent reinforced microfill composites (81% filler by weight) that emulate the shading of natural enamel. Available in VITA shades: A1, A2, A3, A3.5, A4, B1, B2, B3, B4, C1, C2, C3, C4, D2, D3, D4, BLEACH 1, BLEACH 2 and BLEACH 3.

INCISAL Composites: Transparent microfill composites (74% filler by weight) used to emulate the most translucent part of the tooth. Available in shades: NEUTRAL, WHITE, BLUE, CLEAR, FROST, GRAY, PINK, SUPER TRANSLUCENT and YELLOW.

PLEASE NOTE: TESCERA INCISAL will not cure using an LED light. Processing should ideally be done using the TESCERA ATL or a standard halogen light.

TESCERAFLO™: Is a dual-cured (heat/light) composite designed to be used for direct (light) or indirect (heat/light) restorations. It can be used in the conventional direct method where a flowable low modulus composite is needed.

C. CHARACTERIZATION MATERIALS:

CHROMA A: Intense reinforced microfill body composite used to modify the overall shade or add more intensity and chroma to the gingival area of the restoration. Available in VITA family shade A.

• CHARACTERIZATION TINTS: Intense, low viscosity flowable composites used for characterization effects such as occlusal staining, stress fractures, milky incisals, and decalcification spots. This material can be placed with a brush or instrument for minor detail enhancement. Available in BLUE, GRAY, ORANGE, PINK, RED BROWN, WHITE, YELLOW, OCHRE and VIOLET.

D. ACCESSORIES:

DIE SEPARATOR: A silicone based separating agent used to separate the composite material from the silicone die.

RUBBER SEPARATOR: A pink silicone based separating agent used as a die spacer and to separate the composite material from the die.

SCULPTING RESIN: A resin used to manipulate the composite material while preventing the composite from sticking to the building instrument.

GLAZING RESIN: A glazing medium that may be painted on to the surface of the composite restoration to add a high luster polished look.

POLISHING PASTE: An abrasive paste used to polish the surface of the composite restoration.

OXYGEN SCAVENGER CAPSULES: Capsules which contain a proprietary formula that successfully absorbs residual oxygen in water. The use of TESCERA Oxygen Scavenger Capsules in the TESCERA ATL unit removes the oxygen-inhibited layer producing a superior performing restoration.

E. OPAQUER:

TESCERA OPAQUER POWDER: A specially formulated opaquing agent intended to be mixed with Sculpting Resin and used for masking the metal (non-precious, semi-precious and precious) framework of dental prostheses and is optimized when used with the TESCERA ATL system. TESCERA OPAQUER POWDER is a dual-curable opaquing agent, allowing it to be light-cured and/or heat-cured.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

FABRICATION AND PROCESSING OF TESCERA COMPOSITE RESTORATIONS

Refer to the TESCERA ATL Procedural Overview for technical information, instructions for use and reorder information.

CEMENTATION OF TESCERA COMPOSITE RESTORATIONS

A. Tooth Preparation

1. Remove provisional restoration; clean the preparation and try-in the definitive restoration. If eugenol-containing temporary cements were used, clean the preparation with pumice to remove all traces of the cement.

2. Etch using a phosphoric acid etchant, such as UNI-ETCH®* w/BAC or ETCH-37™* w/BAC, according to the manufacturer’s instructions. If using a self-etch adhesive such as ALL-BOND SE, skip this step and proceed to Step 3. (Note: Unlike ALL-BOND SE, most self-etch adhesives are not indicated for indirect restorations.)

3. Apply an adhesive, such as ALL-BOND 2, ALL-BOND 3, ALL-BOND SE, ONE-STEP or ONE-STEP PLUS, according to manufacturer's instructions.

B. Restoration Preparation

1. Sandblast internal surface of restoration for 1-2 seconds. Rinse with water and air dry.

2. Apply adhesive according to manufacturer’s instructions.

C. Cementation

1. Apply the cement using an instrument or an applicator to the internal surface of the restoration.

2. Seat the restoration with gentle, passive pressure.

3. Remove excess cement according to manufacturer’s recommendations.

4. Light cure each surface of the restoration for 40 seconds.

STORAGE: Store at room temperature (20°C/68°F - 25°C/77°F). Refer to individual component labels for specific expiration dates.

PRECAUTIONS: Unpolymerized resins may cause skin sensitization in susceptible persons. In case of contact with the skin, wash thoroughly with soap and water.
