A.
Simultaneous, Dual Viscosity
Technique
This technique allows for low viscosity impression materials
to be syringed onto critical areas and for high viscosity
impression materials to be placed in an impression tray.
Since both are placed approximately at the same time,
they bond and set at the same time.
NOTE: Latex gloves have been
shown to adversely effect the setting of vinyl polysiloxane
(TWINZ VPS) impressions. It is recommended that vinyl
or nitrile gloves be used when working with these materials.
To avoid this adverse effect, it is important to handle
the prepared tooth, the adjacent soft tissues and the
retraction cord with vinyl gloves.
1. Apply Tray
Adhesive: Apply a thin layer of TWINZ VPS
Tray Adhesive to the impression tray (this includes
perforated trays). Allow a minimum of 10 minutes to
dry.
2. Select
Low Viscosity (LV) Material: Per your preference,
choose low viscosity material (TWINZ VPS Lite
Body, TWINZ VPS Xtra-Lite Body, TWINZ VPS
Fast-Track Lite Body or TWINZ VPS Fast-Track
Xtra-Lite Body).
3. Select
Tray Material: Per your preference, choose high
viscosity tray material (TWINZ VPS Putty, TWINZ
VPS Heavy Body or TWINZ VPS Fast-Track Heavy
Body).
4. Prepare
Tray Material:
If using TWINZ VPS Heavy Body, purge
the Heavy Body cartridge and attach a Mixing Tip. Load
this cartridge onto the Dispenser.
If using TWINZ VPS Putty, scoop equal
volumes of Putty base and catalyst. Do not use the
same scoop for the base and catalyst as this will contaminate
and prematurely set the remaining material in the jars.
5. Load
Impression Tray:
If using TWINZ VPS Heavy Body, express
Heavy Body material from cartridge into impression tray.
If using TWINZ VPS Putty, 30 seconds
before completion of LV Material placement, knead the
Putty base and catalyst together until the mix exhibits
a homogenous color. Mix for approximately 30 seconds.
Place Putty into tray.
6.
Prepare LV Material Cartridge:
Purge the LV material cartridge. Insert an Intraoral
Tip into the end of a Mixing Tip and attach to the cartridge.
Load this cartridge onto the Dispenser.
7. Place
LV Material: Remove retraction cord, rinse, dry
and syringe prepared teeth with LV material starting
at the margins and working your way around the tooth,
into the preparation and occlusally. To avoid air
bubbles, agitate the tip within the material as you
express it.
8.
Place Impression Tray: Place the tray over the
teeth and hold steady for approximately 4 minutes or
until material is set. Test with explorer, probe or
finger to determine set.
9. Remove
Impression Tray: Remove the tray, rinse it with
water and disinfect with any ADA accepted liquid disinfectant.
B. Single
Viscosity (Monophase) Technique
This technique allows for
an impression to be made with a medium viscosity impression
material. This single material can be used both for
syringing and for trays.
NOTE: Latex gloves have been
shown to adversely effect the setting of vinyl polysiloxane
(TWINZ VPS) impressions. It is recommended that vinyl
or nitrile gloves be used when working with these materials.
To avoid this adverse effect on the set, it is important
to handle the prepared tooth, the adjacent soft tissues
and the retraction cord with vinyl gloves.
1. Apply Tray Adhesive: Apply
a thin layer of TWINZ VPS Tray Adhesive to the
impression tray (this includes perforated trays). Allow
a minimum of 10 minutes to dry.
2. Select
Monophase Material: Choose TWINZ VPS Medium
Body/ Monophase.
3. Prepare
Medium Body/Monophase Cartridge: Purge the TWINZ
VPS Medium Body/Monophase cartridge and attach a
Mixing Tip. Load this cartridge onto the Dispenser.
4. Load
Impression Tray: Express TWINZ VPS Medium
Body/Monophase material from cartridge into impression
tray.
5. Place
Medium Body/Monophase Material: Insert an Intraoral
Tip into the end of the Mixing Tip. Remove retraction
cord, rinse, dry and syringe prepared teeth with TWINZ
VPS Medium Body/Monophase material starting at the
margins and working your way around the tooth, into
the preparation and occlusally. To avoid air bubbles,
agitate the tip within the material as you express it.
6.
Place Impression Tray: Place
the tray over the teeth and hold steady for approximately
4 minutes or until material is set. Test with explorer,
probe or finger to determine set.
7. Remove
Impression Tray: Remove the tray, rinse it with
water and disinfect with any ADA accepted liquid disinfectant.
C. Bite
Registration Technique
This technique is utilized
to capture occlusal relationships.
1. Prepare
Bite Registration Cartridge: Purge TWINZ VPS
Bite Registration cartridge. Insert a Bite Registration
Tip into the end of a Mixing Tip and attach to the cartridge.
Load this cartridge onto the Dispenser.
2. Prepare
Teeth: Dry the occlusal surfaces of the teeth.
3. Place
Bite Registration Material: Syringe Bite Registration
Material onto occlusal surfaces and have patient bite
into maximum intercuspation. Instruct patient to hold
this position for 1-3 minutes until material is set.
4. Remove
Bite Registration Material: Remove the material,
rinse it with water, and disinfect with any ADA accepted
liquid disinfectant.
